Lauren Ford

Head of Operations

Lauren joined Substance in 2015 as Operations Manager. She became involved in the Manchester United Foundation in 2011, a placement that she gained whilst studying for a BSc in Human Sciences at the University of Bolton. Having worked in the fashion retail sector for several years prior, her path took a very different turn. Working initially within the Education department specifically on the Premier League Enterprise programme, Lauren gained a permanent administrative role at the club based at the iconic Cliff Training Ground. She quickly became the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of all MU Foundation Programmes including activity within the departments of Cohesion, Health, Partner Schools, Disability, and the FA Girls Centre of Excellence. It was this role in 2013 that first introduced her to the world of monitoring and evaluation and impact measurement. Throughout her time at MU Foundation, Lauren was also involved with various managerial roles at Manchester United home games and was a ‘Game Maker’ coordinator of assistants at football games held at Old Trafford as part of the London 2012 Olympics.

With a keen interest in all aspects of Operations Management and a Prince 2 qualification in Project Management, Lauren leads on the implementation of systems and other operational processes across all research and technology projects at Substance as well as monitoring the day to day progress of all activities.

Why Lauren works for Substance

“It’s great to be involved in an organisation whose passion it is to measure the impact of great charitable work within various sectors. My role means that I am involved in all aspects of projects meaning that its never a dull day at Substance Towers!  Away from Substance, I am a Welfare Officer/Volunteer for a local grassroots football club, occasionally supporting the mighty Wigan Athletic FC too. My interests include fashion, lots of socialising and a very varied taste in all genres of music.”
